Beauty and (Taming) The Beast

There is “Beauty” in all of us…there are beautiful parts of our external appearances as well as beautiful components of our personalities, hearts and souls.

Changing direction, there is also the “Beast” inside all of us.  When I use the word “beast” I am referring to that part of the definition that states “an animal”.  Here is the classifications of humans:

  • Domain: Eukaryota
  • Kingdom: Animalia
  • Phylum: Chordata
  • Class: Mammalia
  • Order: Primates
  • Family: Hominidae
  • Genus: Homo
  • Species: sapiens

So, we are in the Kingdom of Animals (or Beasts).  As such, we are prone to animal behaviors such as:

  • Eating past the point of satiation
  • Driven to acts that produce immediate gratification
  • Eat/hoard food not knowing when the next meal may be

However, being the highest intellectual “Animalia” on the planet, we do NOT share some animal behaviors that include:

  • Not caring about how our eating impacts health
  • Not caring/checking on health status (do our pets ever ask us to go the Vet for a checkup?)
  • Not caring about what other animals in our Kingdom think about our external look

To some extent, we are all driven by instinctual behavioral patterns and as “Animalia”, we do need to rise above some of these behaviors as they relate to our eating behaviors.  We must “Tame The Beast” and nurture our inner and outer Beauty.
