It Would Be Great If I Didn’t Feel…

Unfortunately, not 100% of us feel “great” all of the time.  This may be influenced by age of course because as the years advance, more medical “issues” appear that stop us from feeling “great”.  If you were to fill in the blank in the statement:  “It Would Be Great If I Didn’t Feel_____”, what would that blank contain?

Some of the answers may include:

  • Tired
  • Knee, hip or feet pain
  • Low self-esteem
  • Self-conscious about how I look in my clothes
  • The need to take a bunch of medication every day

There are many more bullet points that can be added to this list.

Circling back to weight control:  On everyone’s list there will most likely be items that are linked to poorly controlled weight.  When weight is lost and then maintained, such things as fatigue, pain, poor self esteem and others will disappear off of that list.  Things such as anger at world events, unhappiness with politicians, dissatisfaction at the work place…these are often uncontrollable items that take away from us feeling “great” as well.  However, the weight control-associated items are very much controllable.

Yes, those glasses of wine and/or great tasting desserts make us feel “great” very temporarily but in the aggregate, they take away from this “greatness” sensation that is much more sustaining when weight is controlled.

And for a “Great” song…Here is Whitney Houston singing “The Greatest Love Of All”.  She was a great singer and passed way too young.
